"Welcome to Jim's Page"
About The Artist- Jim Durow |
|
Jim Durow, born and raised in Southeastern
Michigan had a fascination with birds at an early age.
In 1975 he carved his first bird. With the help of his
father he continued carving many different bird species,
learning new things on each piece that he completed.
He continued perfecting his trade for many years and
in 1987 started his business Wooden Feather Carving
Studio. He became interested in competition winning
over 30 blue ribbons and numerous best of shows. His
passion for creativity has always been apparent. "I
strive for two things in my work-quality and originality."
Jim states: "All of my work is hand carved and hand
painted. I use both Tupelo wood and Basswood to carve
the birds. The thousands of feather lines are individually
burned in with an electric pen."
He continues to develop numerous original designs which
are marketed in art fairs and fine stores. His work
can be found in collections in over thirty-five states
and seven countries. "It is my desire to help others
enjoy and appreciate wildlife through my work. He feels
it is making people happy with what you do that really
matters. That is what being an artist is all about!"
Jim lives in Marysville Michigan with his wife Barb
and daughter Morgan.
